Dr. Gent Carrabregu, Assistant Professor of Political Science, is a dedicated scholar and educator with a strong foundation in political theory and public policy. He earned his PhD in Political Science from Northwestern University in 2018, following a BA in Economics and Political Science from Bates College in 2009.
Dr. Carrabregu has over 15 years of teaching experience and has held teaching appointments at institutions including Lake Forest College and the American University in Bulgaria, and served as a postdoctoral fellow and research scientist at Duke University, where he taught courses on American political thought and contemporary political theory.
Currently a faculty member at the Rochester Institute of Technology–Kosovo (RITK), Dr. Carrabregu teaches courses in Political Science and Public Policy. His academic interests lie in the history of political thought, moral and political philosophy, and contemporary democratic theory.
He is a published author in internationally renowned, peer-reviewed scholarly journals. His research interests lie in the fields of history of political thought, moral and political philosophy, and contemporary democratic theory. Within the first two, he takes a particular interest in the social and political thought of Kant and Hegel, as well as the tradition of early modern European political thought (esp. Hobbes, Locke, Hume, and Rousseau). In the third field, he takes an interest in the normative democratic theories of Dewey, Rawls, Arendt, and Habermas. Secondary research interests include American political thought, international political theory (esp. contemporary philosophical theories of global justice and human rights), philosophy of social science, and ancient Greek political ethics (Plato and Aristotle).
