Dawn Zhang is a top-performing graduate with a Bachelor of Science in Economics (First Class Honours) and a Master of Science in Accounting & Finance from the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE). In her second year as an undergraduate, she passed the CFA Level I examination with high scores across all topic areas. At LSE, she built strong expertise in economics, finance, and accounting, combining rigorous quantitative training with applied research experience.
In her teaching, she is organised and structured, with a focus on clarity and progression. She is patient and ensures that students truly grasp the material by testing their understanding through well-placed questions. This approach helps identify gaps in knowledge, encourages deeper thinking, and steadily builds both mastery and confidence. Her goal is always to equip students with a strong foundation while preparing them to engage with more advanced material independently. She is results-oriented, and she takes pride in guiding her students toward outcomes that are not only satisfactory but consistently strong and often exceed expectations.
With more than five years of teaching experience, she has guided students across university and pre-university levels, including AP, A-Level, and IBDP Economics programmes. Her students have achieved outstanding results: AP Microeconomics and Macroeconomics cohorts consistently averaged above 4.5/5, with one student achieving a perfect score in 2021. She has also coached multiple prize-winning students in the International Economics Olympiad and the National Economics Challenge, and she has guided students to success in highly selective essay competitions such as the John Locke and Marshall Society contests.
Her academic versatility was first demonstrated in Singapore, where she was awarded a four-year full scholarship by the Ministry of Education. At the National Junior College, she achieved the highest grade (A) in Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, and Economics at the Singapore-Cambridge GCE A-Level examinations. Earlier, at the Methodist Girls’ School, she attained distinctions across a wide range of subjects in the O-Level examinations, including A1 in English Language, Mathematics, Physics, Biology, Social Studies & Geography, Chinese, and Higher Chinese, as well as strong results (A2) in Further Mathematics and Chemistry. These achievements reflect her quantitative strength and linguistic precision, as well as the discipline and consistency required to excel across diverse subject areas. This broad and rigorous foundation continues to shape her approach to results-driven teaching and lifelong learning.
Dawn teaches A-level Economics across all examination boards, including Edexcel, OCR, AQA, and CIE. She also teaches Advanced Placement (AP) Microeconomics, Advanced Placement (AP) Macroeconomics, and IB Diploma Programme Economics at both Higher and Standard level. Her teaching is highly exam-oriented, with a particular emphasis on structuring essays effectively and securing strong evaluation marks.
